The Power of Water

Krimml Waterfalls: the power of water

Physics and spirituality – the meaning of water for man and machine

Maybe you’ve made a water wheel by a stream yourself: a wooden spit, a cork and four small wooden spatulas – remnants of a Popsicle – and a bit of aptitude are enough to demonstrate the power of water. Water powers the small vortex wheel in the stream, like gigantic turbines in large power plants or the paddle wheel of a mill. The principle of power transmission was discovered more than 3,000 years ago and, to this day, is recognised as a milestone on the path to industrialisation. Try different water wheels at the Aquapark, the outdoor area of the WasserWelten Krimml: you’ll be impressed how much power even a small watercourse can generate.
